An esteemed business leader and rainmaker, Trina is no stranger to philanthropy and community work. One of the causes closest to the animal-lover’s heart is the plight of strays and abandoned pets in urban Singapore. Since 2019, she has served on the SPCA board to help chart the strategic direction of the charity, and she now heads its fundraising sub-committee that raised $3 million just last year. The organisation’s Paws for a Cause Gala Dinner last September was conceptualised and planned by her, who is currently gearing up for the second edition later this year.

Trina Liang-Lin and Edmund Lin decided to start the Lin Foundation to support causes they are passionate about.

Throughout their lives, married couple Trina Liang-Lin and Edmund Lin have seen and known the kindness of others.

From her days as a student at St. Joseph’s Convent, Trina recalled seeing plaques at school, etched with names of donors who gave money to build the school hall. She was surprised that someone who had no relation to the school would do something so meaningful. That memory stayed with her for a long time. Later, she was offered a scholarship to study overseas as she did well academically – an experience she called “life-changing”.

Asia’s 2018 Heroes Of Philanthropy: Putting Wealth To A Good Cause (Forbes 12/11/18)

To mark their 20th wedding anniversary, the powerhouse couple set up the Lin Foundation Asia in 2016. They have since donated about $350,000 toward various causes, including education for women and children, gender equality, animal welfare and the arts. The pair were both active volunteers going back to their school days at elder homes and children’s charities. Trina is a board member of the Singapore Committee for UN Women, promoting empowerment.
